Camping at Whitney Bridge is peaceful and special - you could be sleeping alongside kingfishers, otters and salmon leaping in the River Wye plus the bonus of a beautiful sunset and sunrise.
We have room for approx. 15 - 20 small tents (1/2 man tents) but most of the time we limit this to just your group depending on the size (usually party of at least 20). Our camping area is free-flow and you are encouraged to camp where you like on the grassed areas. We do not have rules, regulations or neat manicured marked-out pitches so if this is what you like then we are not for you. Camp fires are encouraged and wood can be provided.
We can also accommodate Campervans when we are quieter so please do ask. We also love having well behaved dogs on site at no extra charge.
The camping area is right on the river so – pull the canoe up and relax. Well maybe not – pitch the tent – light the fire and cook your supper.
If you don’t feel like cooking however book a BBQ or breakfast ahead of time and be pampered. Breakfast with hot drinks and a fully cooked to order breakfast roll will be delivered to your tent at your required time - so no need to even change out of your PJs.
We have fresh running drinking water and 2 loos and 2 showers - these have been refurbished in January 2016 and are fully stocked with loo rolls, soap, hand towels and hairdryers are available. There is free WiFi on site plus charging points for phones/devices. We have a small shop area with sweets/treats/ice creams/drinks etc but if you call ahead we can always get you anything you may want with our own provision run. We can normally rustle up anything you may need - just ask! We have a fridge/freezer for you to use to keep your milk/meat cold and your freezer blocks even colder.
In the morning, when you are up with the lark, take a stroll over the 242 year old Whitney Bridge and drink in the history before lighting your fire for your morning cuppa. If you are feeling brave have a swim or spot of fishing!
We do have a full alcohol drinks licence so you can buy beers or wines to enjoy on the picnic tables – or can walk just over half a mile to the nearest pubs.
